Eye conditions are challenging enough when you’re not that confident at dealing with them. But ocular emergencies can be a real nightmare; be they perforating corneas, inflamed irises, luxated lenses or detached retinas. During this course you’ll learn how to diagnose and treat urgent ophthalmic presentations both medical and surgical.Throughout the session we’ll develop your existing skills, with a particular emphasis on the steps that you can realistically take where referral is not an option.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to deal with corneal ulcers – particularly performing conjunctival pedicle grafts
  • Tips and techniques for safe removal of corneal foreign bodies
  • Prolapsed globes – how to salvage and replace them
  • Lens luxation – how to deal with them when referral is not an option
  • Develop your practical surgical skills in guided hands-on wet-lab sessions
