Surgical procedures of the head and neck are commonly performed in first opinion small animal practice. During this course you’ll learn the theory essential for making decisions as to which procedure is appropriate for each of your patients. You’ll practise the surgical techniques under the guidance of highly experienced and approachable tutors in extensive ‘hands-on’ practical wet-lab sessions. Gain the confidence and skills you need to manage your patients effectively.

  • Decision-making and treatment options for upper airway disease
  • Staphylectomy, rhinoplasty, laryngeal saccule excision
  • Surgical management of Laryngeal paralysis and collapse
  • Cricoarytenoid lateralisation (‘tie-back’ surgery)
  • Emergency tracheostomy tube placement
  • Diseases of the salivary glands and sialoadenectomy
  • Ear disease and the role of surgery
  • Lateral wall resection technique
  • Total ear canal ablation / lateral bulla osteotomy surgical technique
