NEW FOR JANUARY 2027
Advanced Clinical Programmes
Advanced CPD that creates clinical impact, not just CPD hours.
For experienced clinicians, PgCert and CertAVP holders and RCVS Advanced Practitioners.
Two new structured programmes for experienced clinicians who want to keep developing their clinical reasoning, decision-making and practical skills, and put that learning into practice.
From Advanced Learning to Application in Practice
Advanced CPD should make a difference in practice
You've already built your clinical experience. You may already have a PgCert, CertAVP or Advanced Practitioner status. That doesn't mean your professional development stops.
CPD Solutions Advanced Clinical Programmes™ bring together expert teaching, practical learning, case discussion and reflection in one structured programme.
The aim isn't simply to complete more CPD hours. It's to give you the opportunity to develop your clinical thinking, apply new learning to your own cases and discuss what happens when you put it into practice.
Small Animal Surgery Stream for 2027
Surgical Oncology
Think beyond the surgery. Develop the way you approach the oncology case.
Surgical oncology isn't simply about performing a resection. Good outcomes depend on understanding tumour behaviour, choosing appropriate investigations and treatment goals, planning margins, anticipating reconstruction and recognising when surgery is, and isn't, the right option.
This programme with Jonathan Bray is designed to help experienced clinicians develop that broader surgical oncology mindset and then apply it to realistic cases.
Step 1
ONLINE
Teaching & Cases
Build the clinical framework before you arrive, with focused teaching on cancer biology, treatment planning, staging, surgical margins, common tumour types and reconstruction. Live Q&A sessions give you the opportunity to explore cases and questions with Jonathan before the practical days.
Step 2
PRACTICAL
2-Day Practical
Put the principles into practice through realistic surgical oncology cases, working through planning, tumour resection, margins and reconstruction. You’ll consider different approaches and practise techniques including local flaps, axial pattern flaps and free skin grafts.
Step 3
ONLINE & CLINIC
Apply & Discuss
Take the learning back into your own clinical work and use it to inform the way you assess, plan and manage oncology cases. Follow-up discussion with Jonathan and the group gives you the opportunity to review cases, ask questions and learn from how others are applying the programme.
Step 4
REFLECTION
Clinical Impact
Use our Clinical Impact Framework™ to critically reflect on how the programme has influenced your clinical reasoning and decision-making through a short case log and reflective case report. The optional portfolio gives you a structured way to demonstrate how your learning has translated into clinical practice.

Cardiology
Go further with ECGs and echocardiography, bringing the findings together in clinical decision-making
Develop a more structured approach to ECG interpretation, arrhythmia management and echocardiography, with an emphasis on understanding what your findings mean for the patient in front of you.
This programme with Mattia Basili is designed to help experienced clinicians move beyond simply obtaining measurements and towards using ECG and echocardiographic findings to support better-informed clinical decisions.
Step 1
ONLINE
Teaching & Cases
Build the clinical framework before the practical sessions with focused online learning in ECG interpretation, arrhythmias and echocardiography. Consolidate the principles you’ll need before taking them further with Mattia during the two practical days.
Step 2
PRACTICAL
2-Day Practical
Spend the first day developing your approach to ECG interpretation and the recognition and management of arrhythmias. Day two moves into advanced echocardiography, with time to develop image acquisition, measurements and interpretation.
Step 3
ONLINE & CLINIC
Apply & Discuss
Take the learning back into your own clinical work and use it when assessing cardiac cases in practice. Follow-up discussion gives you the opportunity to explore questions, review cases and consider how your interpretation and decision-making are developing.
Step 4
REFLECTION
Clinical Impact
Use our Clinical Impact Framework™ to critically reflect on how the programme has influenced your clinical reasoning and decision-making through a short case log and reflective case report. CPD Solutions Clinical Impact Framework™
The CPD Solutions Clinical Impact Framework™ helps you turn your learning into meaningful change in clinical practice. It provides a simple structure for critically reflecting on the cases you manage during the programme. It will help you consider what you have learned, how it has influenced your clinical reasoning and decisions, and what difference it has made to your practice.
If you choose to complete the optional Clinical Impact Portfolio, you’ll use the framework to reflect on your experience through a short case log and a 2,000-word reflective case report. Portfolios that meet the Clinical Impact standard receive CPD Solutions recognition and entry on the Clinical Impact Register.
